Spirituality & Maple Leaf Theory

Most people go on a spiritual journey at some point throughout their lives. They quest for the answers to the unknown. In my decades long quest, I now believe that one has to find the belief system that fits with your own soul.

At the age of eight I rejected organized religion, although I was forced to attend church every Sunday. At age eight however, I was told that animals’ souls did not go to heaven. Now at the wise age of eight, I knew that could never be true. My personal heaven has to include my beloved animals or I would not want to be there. So at age eight I had a serious disconnect from organized protestant religion and began my personal quest.

I do believe that the journey is a process. One has to find what fits one’s soul for various stages of age and life development. In my twenties I proudly carried the atheist placard. Now I know that you have to tear down the structures in order to rebuild afresh. This is Pluto energy that forces one to destroy what has always been a part of your life, so that you get a fresh and new beginning. We all go through the death/rebirth and like the phoenix we rise again to a higher level of thought and emotion.

In my thirties, I investigated all the world’s greatest religions since the beginning of mankind. So I expanded and examined every conceivable notion. Then I began to narrow my focus, by discarding what just did not fit for me and my soul’s journey this lifetime.

I’m just a simple country gal. So to me it all boils down to the Maple Leaf theory. It’s a four stage process.

The leaf is born as a bud in the spring time.
The leaf grows and expands.
The leaf matures turning gorgeous colors. This is the signal to all others in it’s world environment that it has arrived at long last by gaining its spiritual wisdom.
It falls off the tree laying down it’s life to feed the roots of the tree with energy. It provides nourishment to all who come after.

No energy is ever lost. The energy of the maple leaf is recycled. God/Universe/Creator is the original recycler of all energy in the Universe.

Tell me about your spiritual journey. Where were your thoughts at different decades of your life?

"All things are possible until they are proved impossible –
and even the impossible may only be so, as of now."

Astrology Moon in Taurus

The Moon in Taurus or the bull is hanging around for the next couple of days. Use its energy wisely! It’s a time to be persistent about things that matter to you.

Everyone knows how stubborn bulls are. I have a black angus bull in my field right now that just won’t go home. He has the freedom to leave as the gate is open. Dogs chasing him won’t make him leave. Me chasing him, won’t make him leave. Nope he’s content to just hang out and chow down. Bulls are … well, bullish, and slow to move on anything. Bulls also don’t like being pulled out of their rut. Expect that behavior from humans as well. Most people will want routine over the weekend rather than trying anything new.

This Taurus Moon energy is the time when people will be bull-headed about stuff and just won’t want to change their opinions. If you are trying to get someone to see your point of view on something important to you, now is not the time to do it. However if you phrase your proposition in terms of the practical and cost saving measures, you just might be able to make your idea fly.

Taurus Moon time means that you want to deal with money. Taurus energy is usually found around banks and financial institutions. So it’s a great time to get your financial house in order. You’ll find it easier emotionally to part with your cash and pay down your debt. It’s a great time to plan where your money is going to go for the next 28 days.

For those folks who usually are like rabbits hopping from thing to thing and chasing rabbit trails instead of following through – harness the Taurus Moon energy! Do you have some pesky jobs that you just never get around to completing? Moon in Taurus comes to the rescue! So set a goal for the weekend. Once you start a task, you increase your chances of finishing it. Hooray, that definitely is a Moment of Joy!

Beware though. If someone around you starts pawing the ground in frustration, back off. Slow to anger, once the bull starts moving, it’s difficult to slow that energy down.

Here is a quote that exudes Taurus energy!

“There is genius in persistence.
It conquers all opposers.
It gives confidence.
It annihilates obstacles.
Everybody believes in a determined man.
People know that when he undertakes a thing,
The battle is half won,
For his rule is to accomplish whatever he sets out to do.”

Happiness is a Habit You Choose

I truly believe that Happiness is a habit we choose. Is the glass half empty or half full? So far, there is no research evidence for a happiness gene in the Humane Genome project yet. Research suggests that 60% of who we are we inherited from our parents. The other 40% comes from our environment. I don’t have much control over the genetic blueprint I inherited. However as an adult, I have control over the environment I choose to live in, the people I associate with and where I focus my energy.

Therefore I can choose to make my life more fulfilled and more enriched by choosing to find happiness each day. Yup, I’m a detective on the hunt each day for something that will bring me joy and happiness. I consciously seek it out. I consciously manipulate my environment to make Moments of Joy happen. I begin my day with an affirmation of finding happiness and joy. As life weaves it’s way throughout the day, I reframe the day’s events by asking myself what is “happy about this situation?” In other words, I expect to find the good in every event that occurs.

If you surround yourself with people who focus on the positive, you also will focus on the positive. You can empower yourself by distancing yourself from people who are chronically negative. Their energy just drags you down. So why not begin choosing a better life for yourself this moment? You deserve the best the universe has to offer! Say an affirmation. Say a prayer telling Creator/God/Universe that you choose Happiness and Joy as a Habit for your life.

"I live a day at a time.
Each day I look for a kernel of excitement.
In the morning, I say: 'What is my exciting thing for today?'
Then, I do the day. Don't ask me about tomorrow."

Spirituality, Human Consciousness & 100th Monkey Theory

You all are aware the Earth energy is shifting. This is changing life as we know it on Mother Earth. You feel it in your bones. You know it in your heart and soul. We are bombarded with articles on Global Warming. While the earth is being physically affected, we humans are being affected physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. We are reading each other’s energy more frequently at a distance. Thus when someone is deeply affected emotionally in Afghanistan, then so are we at a subconscious level.

Sound far out? Research demonstrates clearly that it is not. We are all inter-connected on the Web of Life. We are all ONE. A few years ago, I came across this information on a Global Consciousness study. See this website if you wish to delve further. [http://noosphere.princeton.edu/story.html]. Roger Nelson, the primary researcher, is doing a phenomenal job of tracking how we humans are reacting to global events. I’ve been following his results monthly. His research defies logic as it supports that we are communicating with one another globally without any visible form of a mechanism to communicate. There is a ripple effect around the globe in nanoseconds when some major tragedy occurs. This was documented with events like the death of Princess Diana and the tsunami in Asia a couple of years ago. World wide we were horrified and upset together. Conversely world wide we cheered enthusiastically when the moment in time of the year 2000 came up. Hmm, human emotions being read on a global scale?

So what is behind this life inter-connection that appears to be growing stronger as the Earth shifts? I suggest to you it has its roots in the 100th Monkey Theory! This is something that is being taught to people training to be psychologists.

The Hundredth Monkey by Ken Keyes Jr

The Japanese monkey, Macaca fuscata, had been observed in the wild for a period of over 30 years. In 1952, on the Island of Koshima, scientists were providing monkeys with sweet potatoes dropped in the sand. The monkeys liked the taste of the raw sweet potatoes, but found the dirt unpleasant. An 18 month old female named Imo found she could solve the problem by washing the potatoes in the salty ocean water, improving the taste of the potato. She taught this trick to her mother. Her playmates learned this trick and taught their mothers too. This cultural innovation was gradually picked up by numerous monkeys in the troop and observed by the scientists.

Between 1952 and 1958, all the young monkeys learned to wash the sandy sweet potatoes and make them more palatable. Only the adults who imitated their children learned this cultural improvement. Other adult monkeys kept eating the dirty sweet potatoes. In autumn of 1958, something startling took place. A certain number of Koshima monkeys were already washing their sweet potatoes, the exact number is not known. The hypothetical number given was 99. Then it happened. The hundredth monkey learned to wash the sweet potatoes. The added energy of that hundredth monkey somehow created an ideological breakthrough. Almost everyone in the tribe was washing their potatoes before eating them, but a surprising occurrence was observed by these scientists. The habit of washing the sweet potato had jumped overseas when the monkeys hadn’t met each other. Colonies of monkeys on other islands and the mainland troop at Takaskiyama began washing their sweet potatoes.

Although the exact number may vary, this Hundredth Monkey Phenomenon means that when only a limited number of individuals knows a ‘new way’, it remains the conscious property of those individuals. However, when one more individual manifests this new awareness, the energy field is strengthened, a critical mass is reached, and the awareness becomes the conscious property of all living beings. This new awareness is communicated mind to mind.

Do you find that when the phone rings you know exactly who is on it? Or you are thinking of someone and they call minutes later. That’s the 100th Monkey theory in action! What do you think are going to be the implications for us humans? How is this affecting your life personally?

Astrology Full Harvest Moon in Aries/Mars

This lovely autumn harvest moon hangs in the sky this morning. There is a slight ring around her. My farmer grandfather used to say that meant moisture was on its way.

I’ve spent a lifetime being fascinated by every phase of the Moon and how it influences human behavior. Understanding the Moon phases and how people react when the Moon is in different signs, assists me in understanding the energy that is “out-there” for the day. I spent twenty plus years as a specialist, working with special needs children. For several years I enjoyed the challenges and rewards of helping teens cope with extreme behaviors. Knowing the Moon sign helped me to understand the probably emotional response I would be dealing with that day.

Are you ready for the battles that might just occur today? Do you find you are a little more impatient with those around you? Are you impatient with yourself? Full Moons will do that to you. When you add into the mix the Aries Moon ruled by Mars, the God of War, be forewarned! Count to ten more frequently today before you say or do something you really shouldn’t. It is plain tough to keep from showing your impatience and warrior part of your psyche during the Aries/Mar Full Moon. I’m grateful he only appears once a year!

Aries/Mars stands for your personal will. For the next couple of weeks you are more apt to push for your personal agenda as you work through completing things. You can choose to make the best use of the two weeks after the Full Moon as it wanes towards the New Moon. Full Moons stand for finishing off things. So these next two weeks are part of a cycle of Mother Earth’s rhythms for completing projects more easily.

Do you want to set boundaries with someone but have difficulty doing it? Aries Moon will help you do that. Do you have a lot of errands to run over the next couple of days? Aries Moon will help you do that. Aries is fire energy, so juggling numerous task will be easier to accomplish. Do you need to be more assertive with someone? Then harness the Aries energy for the next couple of days and stand your ground. But remember … words can leave lifetime scars.

We are each of us angels with only one wing, and we can only fly by embracing one another.” [Luciano de Crescenzo]

Happiness & Joy defined

What is the difference between joy and happiness? In my experience, happiness is the underlying music of contentment. Happiness is more quiet when compared to joy. Happiness is the constant heartbeat while Joy is experienced as bubble bursts of pure enjoyment. Those moments are thundering, louder and last a shorter time.

It is by understanding these concepts that you enhance your spiritual journey. Living a positive life is a choice!

Which is more memorable? You decide!

Gift bags save the Environment

To use something once and throw it away is no longer supported by Mother Earth. You can help repair her spirit by doing your part as the Power of One. Part of my spiritual journey is to share some tried and true strategies.

Trees are the lungs of our planet. The local native elders say the reason we now have more wind in this area is because we are harvesting too many mature trees. I found it interesting in the CBC news article last night on global warming in the north, the people in Nunavut are also now experiencing more winds.

Yikes! 3 months from today it is Christmas Day. For a Taurus who likes to plan methodically, that’s a short timespan. 100% of my Christmas shopping is done throughout the year prior to December. I locate treasures that I believe will bring moments of joy to my family and extended family. Angels ~ I have so many angels in my life and I try to find unique angels to give them each year. Before I retired from my career, I used to make my angel friends their angel gifts. Now that I’m retired, I don’t have as much time to be creative with crafts, etc. Go figure!!

So here’s an alternative for you for Christmas and year round gift giving. It’s my favorite environmental practice that I have been doing since the early 1980’s. Refuse to put any gifts in wrapping paper and refuse to buy cards. I sew, so this is easy for me. I make cloth gift bags for different occasions and crotchet the “ribbon” to close them. Each bag takes about an hour from beginning to end. For people I give to yearly, I have cross-stitched cutsy gift tags that are returned to me every year – again saving paper. For my grandchildren, I cross stitch the year of their first Christmas as well as their name.

I commit to making 10 gift bags a year to give away outside our extended family or tribal circle. Over the years I have influenced more than twenty families to go wrapping paper free so they too are using cloth gift bags. Our tribe collectively must be saving some trees every year as a result.

Now here’s the additional benefit! By having a variety of fabric gift bags on hand of all sizes, it saves time! The tags are all made and attached to the gift bags. So as I acquire treasures for people, I just put them in the gift bags. When it comes time to mail things out – voila – it’s all ready with little fuss. Yup, time efficient too.

Hey men, my 30 year old nephew has now been making his own gift bags by hand for the past 5 years – hand sewing because his wife, his mother and I are so adamant about using gift bags. So no excuses now!

It is the time of the Fall Solstice New Moon. That means new beginnings each monthly cycle until the full Moon.

What brings me joy? What brings me happiness?
Those are questions that at quiet moments bubble up from my inner spirit. So here is a list of some of the things that bring me Moments of Joy! These are not in any special order. Each moment is at the top of the list when it is happening and I am focused on the energy of NOW.

taking a walk in the woods and seeing the fall colors change from green to vibrant reds, oranges and yellows
playing with my dogs
talking with my best friend, my husband
talking with my close women friends
helping others out of emotional difficulties
doing astrology to help others understand their lives
Random Act of Kindness
the glorious color of the dawn and dusk sky – my beloved blue and pink
viewing double rainbows
seeing the hummingbirds

These Moments of Joy that I take daily are a renewal of my spirit, my soul and myself!
